Words

Behind this pen sits a man

Writing words for all to read,

If this writer can turn one life around

Then in his mind he did succeed

For some, words will make no difference

For others, it may make them think

It's like a ship turned over in water

Do you swim or do you sink?

With words you must be careful

Meaningful they must be,

Words must portray a picture

The person may plainly see

Words must touch the heart

To where it activates the mind,

Words must send a message

If an effective state we try to find

Words express how we feel

They can be brutal, or they can be kind

It all depends on the person

And the thoughts that are in the mind

Words may make you laugh

Or words may make you cry,

Words determine how we live

They also conclude how we die

One thing I know for sure

I try and think before I speak,

There where times I didn't use my mind

And from my mouth flowed words so bleak

Once the words are spoken

It's hard to take them back,

It all depends how we express them

For they can be dull or sharp as a tack

So try and coordinate your thoughts

Before you speak into ones ear,

Then you'll never have to worry

About words that one may hear.
